Terry Chase is a Director in SierraConstellation’s Southwest Region’s Austin office. She has led companies through transition, funding and growth across a variety of industries including, biotechnology, clean energy, I.T., pharma & advanced manufacturing. Terry has held numerous C-level positions including CEO, CRO and CFO and, is skilled in managing all aspects of operations, while assessing products, intellectual property and then finding opportunities to assure stability and positive financial returns. This includes skill in successfully negotiating 363(b) asset sales in challenging chapter 11 cases with creditor groups.
Prior to joining SCP, Terry began her career in contract biologics manufacturing, where she managed large teams, process development, technology transfer, product development and CGMP manufacturing through Phase III clinical trials. She led product discovery through commercial manufacturing and delivery of biologics for both pre-clinical and clinical trials.
Subsequently, Terry led the Clean Energy Incubator at Texas A&M University aiding companies in financial or operational distress. In 2013, then Texas Governor Rick Perry appointed her as Director of the $500MM Texas Emerging Technology Fund, where she was responsible for valuation of over $220MM in private equity holdings in over 140 companies. She was credited with generating the most positive returns for the office. Terry also represented the State of Texas on the Board of Fujifilm, Texas.
She has assisted numerous companies with their funding and expansion efforts, at all stages, of development including, series A-C rounds, debentures, loans, strategic partnerships, and IPO planning and projections. Terry has been both an investor and/or officer in exits through mergers, acquisitions, IPOs, liquidations and restructuring.
She was named one of Austin’s most social citizens and, one of the top 20 most politically-minded Austinites, to know. She serves on the national advisory committee for a leading venture accelerator, Springboard Enterprises.
Terry holds dual Masters degrees in Technology Management (Biotechnology), Finance and Accounting and, a B.S. in Biology, all from University of Maryland. Terry speaks and writes for nationally-recognized conferences and periodicals.
